My Best Wedding Day Advice

The wedding that I have been planning is only a few weeks away. The bride is excited, stressed, happy, anxious and everything in between. To help her prepare and set expectations for the big day, I share some useful wedding day advice for her and other brides-to-be.

1. It will not be perfect

I hate to bust your bubble on this day that you have been dreaming about for years, but your wedding day will not be perfect. Unfortunately, there are some things that you just can’t plan for. It rains, the officiant yells at your photographer, your drunken uncle hits on all the single female guests. It happens. You can’t control it. So relax and let it happen. Remember that your friends and family are there to celebrate with you not to judge you.

2. Remember to eat

Between the nerves, the make-up, the dress, the pictures, the ceremony and the sheer excitement of it all, it’s easy to forget to eat. You need your strength to get through the day. Take a few minutes to have a light meal in the morning and dinner at the reception. Remember, too much champagne on an empty stomach is not a good idea.

3. Have Fun

While it is important to greet all of your guests, it’s impossible to spend quality time with them all. So don’t try. Instead, spend your time enjoying the party. Stay present in the moment and soak up every minute. It will be over before you know it!

4. Steal away with groom

Make sure you spend some alone time with your groom. Take a few minutes to privately reflect on the real meaning of the day and toast to your new beginning as husband and wife.

5. Save the lingerie for the honeymoon

It’s finally your wedding night—let the fireworks begin! But despite what you’ve seen in the movies, it may not be the steamy night of passion you were expecting. After such a long and overwhelming day, you are lucky if you have enough energy to get out of your dress and wash off your makeup. If you’re still up for it, great. If not, don’t put the pressure on yourself. Besides, the fireworks are always better when you have the energy to enjoy them.

6. Breathe, relax and smile

Remember, I work for you. It’s my job to make sure that everything that can be controlled goes off without a hitch. Don’t let stress prevent you from enjoying every moment of this special day. Trust that I have every beauty/fashion emergency covered. The necessary people have been threatened prepped appropriately and given all the details they need. The only thing you should be concentrating on is seeing the smile on your future husband’s face when you walk down the aisle. I will take care of the rest.
