As usual, I was craving something sweet. So I headed to the kitchen to see what I could whip up with what I had in my pantry. I decided on blondies since they are easy to make and I happened to have all of the ingredients. Here’s the recipe: Continue reading
When I noticed that an overnight trip was a part of the 3rd grade curriculum at my daughter’s school, I furrowed my brow for a sec. But I shrugged and thought, “No biggie, I’ll just make sure I’m one of the chaperones.” Until I found out that parents weren’t allowed to chaperone. Not one. High levels of E. coli (bacteria that normally live in the intestines of people and animals) can be found on 70-80% of grocery carts, 71% of gas pump handles, and 68% of mailbox handles to name a few. Yuck! If you are as grossed out as I am you’re going to love this week’s Friday Find, the No Touch Pen.

I first learned of the Before I Die project when one of my close friends wrote a blog about participating in a workshop inspired by the project. The project was created when Candy Chang, an artist who had lost someone she loved, painted the sentence, “Before I die I want to______” in chalkboard paint on an abandoned house in her New Orleans neighborhood. The next day, the wall was full of personal aspirations and reflections from those that had picked up a piece of chalk to share a piece of themselves in a public space. Continue reading
